What is Medicare?
Medicare is a federal health insurance program designated for individuals 65 and older, or other individuals who qualify due to a disability.
Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance)
Covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care.
Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance)
Covers certain doctor services, outpatient care, home health, medical supplies, and preventive services.
Part C
Plans that are offered through private insurance companies and approved by Medicare. They are also known as Medicare Advantage plans and often include Part A, Part B, and Part D. Before enrolling in a Part C Medicare Advantage plan, you must first enroll in Original Medicare Parts A and B.
Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage)
Part D adds prescription drug coverage to Original Medicare and some Medicare Cost Plans or Advantage Plans.
What are My Options?
Medicare Advantage:
Medicare Advantage Plans are an “all in one” alternative to Original Medicare. They are offered by private companies approved by Medicare.
MEDICARE SUPPLEMENTS
Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) is a policy that helps pay for some of the health care costs that Original Medicare doesn't cover, such as Copayments.
PART D PLANS
Help cover the cost of prescription drugs. You join a Medicare drug plan in addition to Original Medicare and some MA plans.
